Then, remember the laptop battery should never be frozen. Although the freezing point of Li-ion batteries is around -40 degrees C, when storing the battery just make sure it'll never reach those sort of extreme temperatures.
Last but not least, never deplete the laptop battery to below their minimum voltage.

Microsoft och Hewlett-Packard använder "kryphål och jippon" för att undvika att betala miljontals dollar i amerikanska skatter, sade ordföranden i en amerikanska senatens underutskott torsdag.
Microsoft förskjuts en oproportionerligt stor del av sina vinster till dotterbolag i tre låg skattejurisdiktioner och HP använder konstant kortfristiga lån från sina utländska dotterbolag för att undvika att betala skatt på inkomster som kommer tillbaka till USA, sade senator Carl Levin, ordförande i den utredning underkommitté till senaten Homeland Security och statliga frågor.
"Det är mycket tveksamt att en del av dessa metoder uppfyller gällande [skatteregler] eller befintlig lagstiftning", Levin, en Michigan demokrat, sade vid en underkommitté utfrågning.
Microsoft och HP är inte ensamma om att massera USA skattelagstiftning, säger Levin, men en långsiktig underkommitté utredning har fokuserat på de två företagen. Ansträngningar företag att sänka sina amerikanska skattebördan inte kan vara olagligt i många fall, men praxis HP och Microsoft upp "allvarliga frågor", sade han.

Hybrid tabletter och 4K TV topp trender på IFA i Berlin
I år på IFA Consumer Electronics Show i Berlin leverantörer införts och visat en uppsjö av extremt hög upplösning TV, hybrid tabletter baserade på Microsofts kommande operativsystem, liksom den första enheten baserat på Windows Phone 8.
Här är några av de flesta intressanta trender på IFA 2012 och de produkter som de har gett upphov till:
4K TV
LG Electronics, Sony och ett antal andra leverantörer visade alla så kallade 4K TV, som ökar upplösningen från nuvarande 1920-av-1, 080 pixlar till 3840-by-2, 160 pixlar. Termen 4K kommer från den horisontella upplösningen.( Batteri Dell Vostro 1510)
För att dra full nytta av formatet en stor TV behövs som TV tillverkarna har insett. Skärmen på Sonys XBR-84X900 åtgärder 84 inches, liksom LG: s UD (Ultra Definition) 3D-TV.
Men trots hur vackra noggrant utvalda videoklipp såg på mässan, finns det några hinder, inklusive pris. LG: s tv kommer att kosta ca $ 22.000 när det börjar att rulla ut i Nordamerika, Europa, Asien och Latinamerika start i september. Det finns också en brist infödd 4K innehåll att titta på, vilket gör det ännu svårare för tekniken att ta fart inom en snar framtid.

Asus Vivo Tab och Asus Vivo Tab RT - Transformers go Windows 8
Asus har sparkat av IFA 2012 med offentliggörandet av två nya surfplattor. Asus Vivo Tab och Asus Vivo Tab RT föra framgångsrika Transformer konceptet till Windows 8.
Namnet kommer från det latinska verbet "att leva", med Asus beskriver de nya surfplattor som idealisk för arbete och lek.
Uppbyggd kring en 11,6-tums Super IPS + skärm, som Transformer sortiment av Android tablett-enheter, kommer Vivo fliken har en docka för att vända denna Windows 8 tablett till en fullvärdig anteckningsbok.
Med en tjocklek på bara 8,7 mm och väger 675g, är Vivo fliken en slick utseende enheten, uppvisar Asus växande erfarenhet i tablettform design.
Den har även en ny dold gångjärn, vilket gör den mer elegant än tidigare "Transformer"-modeller.(Batteri till hp ProBook 6445b)
Drivs av nästa generations Intel Atom processor, har den även en Wacom digitaliserare penna för förbättrad anteckningar.
Tabletten har två kameror - 8-megapixel på baksidan och 2-megapixel på framsidan.
Den andra enheten, Asus Vivo Tab RT är mindre, med en 10,1-tums Super IPS + panelen och lättare på 520g.
Denna gång tabletten drivs av Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU och kommer förinstallerad med Microsoft Office 2013.
Asus Transformator Pad Infinity och TF300T Jelly Bean utbyggnaden startar( Dell Vostro 1510 batteri)
Asus hade redan bekräftat att det skulle vara rulla ut Android 4,1 Jelly Bean till Asus Transformer TF300T och Asus Transformator Pad Infinity, och enligt läsarna att uppdatering börjar rulla ut från och med nu.
"Vi är glada att meddela att vi kommer att uppdatera många av våra tablett produkter till Android 4,1, Jelly Bean. ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime och ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity alla är planerade att få en uppdatering till Jelly Bean under de kommande månaderna ", Asus sade officiellt förra månaden.

Asus har sparkat av IFA 2012 med offentliggörandet av två nya surfplattor. Asus Vivo Tab och Asus Vivo Tab RT föra framgångsrika Transformer konceptet till Windows 8.
Namnet kommer från det latinska verbet "att leva", med Asus beskriver de nya surfplattor som idealisk för arbete och lek.
Uppbyggd kring en 11,6-tums Super IPS + skärm, som Transformer sortiment av Android tablett-enheter, kommer Vivo fliken har en docka för att vända denna Windows 8 tablett till en fullvärdig anteckningsbok.
Med en tjocklek på bara 8,7 mm och väger 675g, är Vivo fliken en slick utseende enheten, uppvisar Asus växande erfarenhet i tablettform design.

Even IBM (IBM) has better prospects. It has also successfully integrated its acquisitions into the company. It has grown its revenues by 3% a year. This translated to operating margins of 17% to 19% and returns on equity of 65% to 73%. It seems that the market is clearly discounting its ability to turn around its operations. I believe that one of the key catalysts is breaking up the company. Based on the recent UBS report, a potential break-up of its consumer and business divisions would make perfect sense. I believe this would complement Whitman's plan to focus on its three key areas. It will also convince the market that there is a solid plan to turn things around. I expect that this won't happen unless there is an activist like Carl Icahn or Bill Ackman to push Whitman. For now, the market will continue to wait on the sidelines.

Hewlett-Packard has yet to announce a blade server based on Intel's latest Xeon E5-4600 processors for four-socket servers - but that hasn't stopped it bragging about their performance.
In an article on its website, HP let the cat out of the bag that it was working on the ProLiant BL660c Gen8 blade server, which is a full-height, single-width blade server for the BladeSystem c7000 chassis that is the foundation of many of its systems.(Samsung P50 Pro battery)
The feeds and speeds of the ProLiant BL660c Gen8 server were not divulged by HP top brass. Instead the company's techies have run the SPEC CPU2006 series of integer and floating point benchmark tests on the forthcoming box. They compared it to current Xeon E5-4600 machines from Huawei, Bull, Dell, and Super Micro to show off the performance advantage its future four-socketer will deliver when it starts shipping sometime in the second half of this year. You can view the performance report [PDF]. HP put together for all the numbers, but there is very little detail on the BL660c Gen8 server itself.
While HP has met or beat the performance of these rivals in the four-socket racket, what this chart above and the report in general really demonstrate is how difficult it is to differentiate on performance in a world dominated by Intel Xeon processors. The difference from one machine to another is a few percent, and because of the cut-throat economics, the street prices of machines are probably not all that different unless you are in a competitive takeout situation.
Perhaps the most telling bit of information in the performance report put together by HP is that a four-socket machine using eight-core Sandy Bridge-EP Xeon E5-4600 processors running at 2.7GHz offers about 17 to 19.5 per cent better performance than a four-socket box based on the earlier ten-core Westmere-EX Xeon E7-4800 processors running at 2.4GHz when it comes to floating point work.(Samsung NP battery)
So if you need a fat memory node, clearly the Xeon E5-4600 node is going to be the better – and almost certainly cheaper – option. If you need an eight-socket server or more than 1.5TB of memory, then an E7-8800 machine is your only option unless you want to go the RISC/Unix or proprietary server route.
You will note that HP was very careful not to compare its future E5-4600 blade server against its own current ProLiant G7 machines using the E7-4800 processors.
And the company did not mention the ProLiant DL580 Gen8 rack-mounted server, which has not been announced yet, either, and which is no doubt on its way, too, supporting the Xeon E5-4600 processor. The earnings fell short of Wall Street expectations, as the company also reported that iPhone sales in the quarter fell to 26 million compared with more than 35 million in the previous quarter. Apple shares slipped 5% to $571.15 in after-hours trading after the report.
"Our weekly iPhone sales continue to be impacted by rumors and speculation of future products," said Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer.
Apple reported it also sold 17 million iPads in the quarter compared with almost 12 million in the previous quarter. And Apple sold 4 million Macs in the period.
But sales suffered as more consumers are buying the least expensive iPhones and iPads.
Apple's average selling prices for the gadgets declined to levels last seen in 2010 for the iPhone and the lowest levels ever in the case of the iPad.
iPhones are the company's cash cow. Apple's iPhone generates more revenue, for example, than all of Microsoft's products combined.
Some analysts saw the deceleration in iPhone sales as good news, suggesting pent-up demand for the new model that could translate into blockbuster holiday sales. Google-backed Android accounted for a "commanding" 68.1 percent of all smartphones shipped in the three-month period; while BlackBerry and Symbian saw their shares slip to 4.8 and 4.4 percent respectively, according to IDC.
"Android continues to fire on all cylinders," said IDC senior research analyst Ramon Llamas.

Acer announced the Iconia W510 and W700 tablet at its press conference in Taipei on Monday and Pocket-lint was on hand to get a quick play with the two new Windows 8 powered tablets.
The Iconia W510
Starting with the Iconia W510, Acer was very secretive as to what hardware this new 10.1-inch tablet will be running, but confirmed it would be an Intel chip of some kind - possibly an Atom processor - but we couldn’t coax the Acer representative into admitting this.
The W510 was made out to be your travel companion, as it’s perfect for light work, entertainment and more. With an 18-hour battery life, you’re not going to run out of juice any time soon either, although it’ll be interesting to see if Acer can actually deliver on this.(Samsung AA-PL0UC3B/E)
As with so many other higher-end tablets, the W510 sports dual cameras with an 8Megapixel unit with an LED flash on the rear and an unspecified camera on the front.
One concern we have about the W510, judging by the unit on display, is that the hinge on the dock isn’t quite as strong as it needs to be, as when in “laptop” mode, the tablet half of the W510 was sagging backwards when left on its own.
This didn’t seem to be an problem when the keyboard was used as a stand though and it’s likely that this is just an issue with this pre-production unit, but still something worth noting.
Price-wise the Iconia W510 will be anything but a cheap tablet, as Acer has placed it somewhere between $599 and $799 making it considerably more expensive than the iPad and every other tablet on the market.
The Iconia W700(Samsung AA-PB8NC8B)
As for the Iconia W700, it will feature an Ivy Bridge processor and as such is a notebook replacement tablet. Despite sporting Thunderbolt connectivity, the docking station for the W700 relies on USB 3.0. The left-hand side of the dock sports three USB 3.0 ports courtesy of a hub and oddly enough there’s a small cut-out to make room for the rear camera on the right-hand side.
The dock isn’t as clever as it first seems, because it simply has a removable stand that can be inserted two different ways into the dock itself and it actually looks rather cheap.
We did manage to prod the W700 for a few seconds and the build quality seems pretty good, although it’s a fairly chunky piece of kit compared to ARM-powered tablets and even its W510 sibling.
Price-wise the W700 isn’t likely to draw a lot of consumer attention, because Acer is hoping that potential buyers are going to be willing to spend between $799 and $999, which seems far too steep considering its many limitations and rather cheap docking solution.

Toshiba Mobile Monitor Review: Work Like a Pro from Your Laptop
Plug it in ... and that's it
There's not much packed in the box. There's the monitor itself, which is shipped wrapped up in a folder-style "pleather" folio which protects the screen and when unfolded, serves as an easel for the display. Also included are a CD which contains the driver and a user manual in ODF format. Finally, a USB "Y" cord is provided and can be stored in the easel which has a place for it in the hinge. The Y cord has two USB plugs in case a single USB jack on the laptop doesn't provide enough current for the display to function. For maximum brightness output, an optional AC power adapter is required, which costs extra, is obviously not included (I did say optional), and is one more thing to clutter your laptop bag.(Samsung AA-PB6NC6W)
I tested the Mobile LCD Monitor using a Lenovo U310 Ultrabook. Second display performance can be affected by the graphic processing capability of the laptop it's being used with, and the U310 is a brand new model using a Core i5 CPU and Intel HD 4000 graphics. The Ultrabook does have a USB 3.0 port, but unfortunately, it's constrained by the limitations of the device that's connected to it.
Installing the monitor was easy, but it does point out something that Toshiba should have thought of. Many of the most likely users of the Mobile USB monitor are likely to have netbooks or Ultrabooks without an optical drive. The first step in the installation process requires that you install a driver on the laptop. And, of course, that driver is supplied on a CD. Given the MSRP (manufacture suggested retail price) of $200, it wouldn't have been difficult to provide the driver on a USB flash drive rather than a CD. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you're installing a driver for a USB monitor, the laptop is going to have a USB port. You can download the driver from the download section of Toshiba's web site, but there's no mention of this either in the Quick Start of the User's Manual. Nor is the driver particularly easy to find on the site.

Laptops aren't only getting lighter, but smaller as well. Ultrabooks frequently have 13-inch screens, and if you were one of the many who jumped on the netbook bandwagon, you're probably tired of squinting at a 10-inch screen.
Having a second monitor offers a number of benefits. One obvious advantage is the larger viewing area compared to laptops with smaller screens. The other key benefit is that external displays usually have a higher resolution ... meaning you can fit more on the screen. That's why it's pretty common to plug in a 19-inch to 24-inch monitor into your laptop when you're using it in an office(Samsung AA-PB8NC6M)
Also, since most versions of Windows support multiple monitors, you can mirror the laptop display on a second or third monitor, split the screen between several monitors, or display completely different application outputs on separate monitors.
Finally, having an additional monitor makes it easier to do a presentation with only a few people. If your audience is sitting on your side of the desk or table your laptop might be enough, but if several people are seated across the desk from you, having a second display situated so that they can see the presentation obviates the need for a video projector.(Samsung AA-PL0UC6B/E)
This is pretty easy to accomplish if you're in your office, but much less so when you're on the road.

Chrome releases the next Stable Channel
Google’s Chrome team recently announced Chrome 21 as the next stable channel for their browser. Chrome 21.0.1180.57 has been updated as a stable channel for Mac and Linux, as well as 21.0.1180.60 for Windows and Chrome Frame. The latest stable release of the browser contains several new features including a new API for high-quality video and audio communication.
Today's Chrome Stable release allows users to manage several permissions, aimed to help websites and web apps to access your camera and microphone. This feature supports sites with media functionality, such as video conferencing. Such sites or web apps can request your camera and microphone for several expected actions including Allow, Deny. With this update, Chrome also delivers the getUserMedia API, which allows web apps to access a user's camera and microphone without using any external browser plugin such as Flash or Silverlight. The WebRTC API is available for web developers in the ChromeDevChannel as a preview.
In the latest version of Chrome, Sketchbooks experiment also uses getUserMedia, which takes a picture of your face with the help of a webcam, converts it to a line drawing, and sends it to a robot in the Science Museum in London.
The latest stable release also brings some new and improved printing experience for Google Cloud Print which better integrates your printers on the web. SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Dell Inc.’s shares headed south Wednesday on results that raised doubts about the PC maker’s ability to consistently grow profits while chasing higher-margin businesses.
But the earnings report from Dell (US:DELL) also suggests that the hard disk-drive shortage that has hurt the computer market may not be as severe as many feared. One analyst said that bodes well for Hewlett-Packard Co. (US:HPQ), which is scheduled to post its own results after the closing bell Wednesday.

Dell’s numbers pointed to problems that also affect H-P, including a struggling U.S. public-sector market and lackluster consumer demand. But the hard disk-drive shortage did not have as big an effect as many had speculated.
“Dell beat PC revenue expectations, meaning they were able to purchase all the hard disk drives they needed,” ISI Group analyst Brian Marshall wrote MarketWatch in an email. “I think H-P’s guidance assumed they wouldn’t be able to purchase all the drives they would need for the quarter. I think they were able to purchase them.”
However, Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi said it was unclear “how much of its hard disk-drive issues were company-specific.”
He wrote in a note that PC makers Acer and Lenovo passed on higher disk-drive costs to customers, noting that both of those companies also gained share from “white box,” or unbranded, PCs.
”Our field checks suggest that H-P responded very differently than Dell to hard disk-drive supply issues by raising prices on transactional sales and discontinuing low-end products, which appears to have translated into notable share loss,” Sacconaghi added.( hp Presario V6500 Battery )
Dell did say that the company didn’t get enough supply of higher-end capacity drives, limiting its ability to make and sell higher-end PCs. That is a problem for a company that’s been trying to push deeper into higher-margin segments by de-emphasizing its lower-margin businesses.
Those efforts have paid off, as Dell’s improved profit margins have won praise on Wall Street, where the stock had jumped roughly 24% since the first of the year before Tuesday’s report.
Dell’s report quickly sparked a debate on what it means for the Round Rock, Texas-based company’s push for greater profitability.
“That’s all folks,” Needham analyst Richard Kugele quipped in a note, as he downgraded the stock to hold from buy. “It’s been an impressive run year to date for Dell, rising over 24% and surpassing our $17 target as the fundamental improvements in its business mix were gradually recognized by investors.”

There is also a DVD drive, 4-in-1 card reader, 0.3 megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports and a HDMI port on offer.
The U46 weighs in at just over 2kg and also includes the exclusive Asus USB charger system allowing users to quickly recharge USB-powered devices in a fraction of the time it normally takes – though what this will do to the laptop battery is probably not worth thinking about.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Dell Inc's new software chief plans to increase the size of the business five-fold, a target that could eventually account for at least 25 percent of the No. 3 personal computer maker's profits.
John Swainson, the former chief executive of CA Technologies who joined Dell in February, said software is a higher margin business than most of the company's other units, but is not big enough to make a difference right now.
Dell has been actively diversifying its products and business away from personal computers, a market whose growth is slowing as Apple Inc's iPad and other mobile devices pull customers away. The company has said it sees software and services as key growth areas.(HP NC8200 battery)
Swainson wants Dell's software business to make a "meaningful contribution" to its bottom line.
"As you get to a number like $5 billion, it starts to become a meaningful number on the bottom line," he told Reuters in an interview. "If you were at $5 billion software business with 30 percent margins, that would be roughly $1.5 billion in net income."
Dell's software business currently generates about $1.2 billion of its $60.2 billion annual revenue.
Swainson did not give a time frame for when he hopes to achieve the target revenues, but said the $2.4 billion acquisition of Quest software was one of the building blocks to getting there.

Will H-P bottom out any time soon?
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — A lot of tech investors are watching Hewlett-Packard Co. closely, waiting for it to bottom out. The question is whether it ever recovers once it hits bottom.
I was a big fan of H-P (US:HPQ) until Carly Fiorina became the chief executive and began a series of missteps that continue to this day, starting with the purchase of Compaq computer.
The last dumb move was the company’s purchase of Autonomy, a odd U.K. software company that seems to specialize in the creation of screwball corporate cliches using the word “meaning” as the cornerstone.
For example, they engage in “meaning-based computing” and “meaning-based governance” and “meaning-based marketing.” I hear H-P is looking for someone to run the operation. How about Werner Erhard or Deepak Chopra?
The company employs “pan-enterprise search” to do “eDiscovery.” Cripes! It should become an ad agency with all this blather.
Apparently Leo Apotheker, former H-P CEO, was enamored with this company and spent most of the H-P cash reserves (over $10 billion) to acquire it.
That was the end of him. Now we have Meg Whitman, would-be governor of California, running the place.
The problem with H-P is that it is still a good company. After Whitman fires another reported 27,000 people, which can never be done judiciously with that many people involved, I don’t know if it can recover without a visionary at the helm.
Whitman has shown no indication of being anything more than a functionary. This is not going to improve the fate of the stock and until something inspirational comes from the company the stock will continue to crater.
